Five must-see TV highlights for the week ahead


It may be cold outside but the standard of TV is heating up this week with some awesome new shows getting underway. Here's our pick of the next seven days' best television.

1. Wonders of the Moon - Wednesday 31st January at 8pm on BBC One

Following 12 months of remarkable lunar activity, this documentary looks at why so many 'supermoons' have been lighting up the night sky. We also discover more about the mysterious dark side of the moon and one of nature's most awe-inspiring events - a total solar eclipse.

2. Altered Carbon - Friday 2nd February on Netflix

This much-anticipated Netflix production is set in a future where the human mind can be digitally transferred from one body to another. As such, when the mega-rich Laurens Bancroft offers imprisoned super soldier Takeshi Kovacs his freedom, it is in exchange for Kovacs solving a murder... that of Bancroft himself.

3. Requiem - Friday at 8pm on BBC Two

This gripping drama sees a talented young cellist investigate the historic disappearance of a girl from a small Welsh town. However, the secrets she uncovers during her quest threaten to unravel her very identity.

4. Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - Sunday 4th February from 4.30pm on Sky Sports Premier League
