VW tempts buyers to the dark side with new Amarok Dark Label
A new, limited-edition version of the Volkswagen Amarok is making its way to British showrooms. It's called the Amarok Dark Label, and offers high levels of equipment and a dramatic, blacked-out look for the style-conscious to drool over.
Only 200 examples of the Dark Label will be sold in the UK, giving it a level of exclusivity most pickups can't hope to match. It's based on the already top-spec Amarok Highline, but adds extra kit to justify its higher price tag.

The exterior gains glitzy 18-inch alloy wheels, plus black detailing on the mirror housings, door handles, rear bumper and side bars. It's fitted with the underbody pack, for extra off-road ability as well as on-road appeal, and comes in a choice of three suitably moody colours – Carbon Steel metallic grey, Deep Black pearl, or Indium Grey matte.
The exterior is finished off with unique Dark Label decals.
Inside, the Amarok Dark Label is similarly decked out, with Alcantara-finished seats, a black headliner and chromed surrounds for the air vents. The Dark Label also gains as much interior equipment as Volkswagen can throw it. The firm's Discover Media system is fitted as standard, as are rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, electric mirrors and xenon headlamps.
Under the bonnet sits the same 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that powers all Amaroks. For the Dark Label, it produces 201bhp and is mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. The Dark Label retains the standard truck's load capacity and towing limit, making it a versatile and rugged choice.
Order books for the 200 Amarok Dark Labels coming to the UK will close in April, with prices starting at £33,650 – excluding VAT, for commercial buyers.
