Bentley launches new V8 Bentayga
A new engine has been added to the Bentley Bentayga range. The ultra-luxury SUV now has a V8 petrol option to add to the W12 petrol and V8 diesels already available.
The new V8 offers up 542bhp and 770Nm of torque, good for 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds – not bad from a car that weighs well over two tonnes. Top speed is 180mph, which is slightly down from the W12's insane 186mph.

Despite the reduced power, Bentley calls the V8 the 'most sporting guise to date' – with the lighter engine reducing weight over the nose and theoretically improving handling.
The new engine also improves efficiency. It has the ability to shut down four of its eight cylinders, and as such is capable of 24.8mpg – far better than the W12's 21.6mpg, though not as impressive as the diesel's 35.8mpg.
CO2 emissions are 260g/km, leading to a hefty first year's road tax – not that most buyers will care.
The new Bentayga is also available with carbon-ceramic brakes for the first time. These are the most powerful stoppers ever fitted to a Bentley, and the brand claims it's the largest front brake system ever fitted to a production car.
Elsewhere, styling options are much the same, with the V8 gaining new exhaust tailpipes and a new alloy wheel design. Inside, customers can spec a new high-gloss carbon-fibre trim option – plus a new leather colour, named Cricket Ball.
Prices for the new V8 will start at £136,200 – just £400 more than the diesel. It will go on sale from March this year.
