A JustGiving page has been set up for Tim Smith of Cardiacs for urgent medical treatment after he was left with severe brain damage and a condition called dystonia following a cardiac arrest.

Tim fronted the band, formed in Kingston, south-west London, in 1977, and was credited with inspiring the likes of Radiohead, Blur, Biffy Clyro and others.

Since his cardiac arrest in 2008, Tim's ability to move and speak is minimal and he needs urgent care.

"The only way I can try and let you know how I feel at the moment is, imagine if you were wearing a skintight bodysuit made of fishnet all around you with electrical pulses going all the time. This is what my body feels like unless I fall asleep," he said.

Raphael Hospital Group has bought the facility Tim lives in and is able to provide him and his fellow patients with the input necessary to make progress. This, of course, comes at a price - and Tim's friends and family are aiming to raise £100,000 so that he can finally afford the care he needs.
