Australia's first hypercar? The Quantum GP700 was built in a shed
Great Britain is pretty marvellous at building tiny, lightweight pocket rockets on a slim budget and in difficult circumstances – just think of the Ariel Atom, the Noble M600, or Morgan. Now, Australia's getting in on the action with this – the Quantum GP700.
The brainchild of Melbourne-based Jeff David, the Quantum has some serious numbers behind it. One in particular stands out – the 700bhp that the car's named after, as well as just 700kg of mass. That gives the car an amazing 1:1 power ratio – more than just about anything else you can buy today.

Power comes courtesy of a 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine with two superchargers, and all that shove means the Quantum should rocket from 0-60mph in under 2.5 seconds.
