Renault adds premium Initiale Paris trim to Koleos range
French brand Renault is stepping up its game to compete with rivals in the premium SUV sector, with the introduction of a luxurious new trim level for its flagship Koleos SUV.
Called Initiale Paris, the new level sits above existing Dynamique S and Signature Nav variants of the Koleos, and is priced from £36,700 – exactly the same as an entry-level BMW X3.

The Koleos Initiale Paris is considerably better equipped than that car, though. Standard specification includes Nappa leather seats, 19-inch alloy wheels, an opening panoramic sunroof, full LED headlights, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The cupholders are even heated and cooled.
Customers can also spec an exclusive 'Amethyst' body colour, available only on the Initiale Paris.
It's also loaded with sophisticated driving aids, including autonomous emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, a rear parking camera and auto dimming rear-view mirror.
In fact, the Initiale Paris is packed with so much kit that the options list is only two items long – with just metallic paint and a spare wheel available, at £550 and £110 respectively.
Renault claims the Koleos offers 'exceptional interior space', though it does without the seven seats of some rivals.
The Initiale Paris version of the Koleos is available with just one engine – a 2.0-litre diesel, which produces 175bhp and 380Nm of torque. It's mated to a continuously variable transmission, albeit one with seven artificial ratios engineered in. Four-wheel drive is standard. The whole get-up is capable of 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds, and a top speed of 125mph.
