1. Duckmole women's house slippers, £14.99
These reasonably priced slippers might not look like anything special, but looks can be deceptive and they are in fact the highest-ranked slippers of the 32,127 varieties offered on Amazon. With neutral styling, a soft, knitted outer and a choice of grey or pink, they are light in weight at just 227g for the pair and have a hard sole – in case you need to pop into the garden.
One satisfied customer wrote: "Very Comfortable. Nice material. The soles are good and thick but not too much. They don't slip off the heel when walking so you don't have to shuffle. Good buy."
2. Totes Popcorn Mule Pillowstep Slippers, £10.80
Another affordable option, these Totes slippers might be low in price but they they don't skimp on quality or comfort. A waffle-pattern fabric outer and a choice of three colours means there's a pair to suit all tastes and the tufted insole with foam layers promises superior comfort courtesy of additional padding at the heel and arch.
One happy buyer wrote: "They keep feet lovely and warm. The fitting seems quite snug when first putting them on but the fabric and foam gives to accommodate even my broad feet."
3. Hotter Thyme touch close slippers, £45
An inventive mix of modern and traditional styling, these slippers feature an asymmetric touch-close strap for a nice snug fit. Soft uppers, a deep-cushioned footbed and a soft faux-fur lining add to the comfort and a tough polyurethane sole means they should last. They also go up to a size nine, making them a good option for the larger-footed lady.
4. Ciora handmade sheepskin slippers, £39.99
Looking for a touch of luxury? These cosy ankle-height handmade numbers have 100 per cent sheepskin uppers and a lovely soft wool inner. As well as being super-soft and comfy, they are also claimed to be approved by a podiatrist and to be hypo-allergenic and more breathable than many synthetic slippers – avoiding that clammy feeling when your feet warm up.
A delighted buyer wrote: "Just fabulous! So comfortable and lightweight and so much better than synthetic sheepskin. Would very much recommend."
5. Joules dog print slippers, £19.95
A strong contender for any dog lover, these smart, country-style slipper socks feature a selection of hounds in hats printed on the light grey outer fabric.
