VW Golf leads manufacturer scrappage trade-ins

Around 17 car manufacturers are offering vehicle scrappage schemes at the moment – where trading in an older car that doesn't meet current emissions standards can net you a hefty discount off the price of a new one. Research conducted by car classified site Auto Trader has named the models that owners are most eager to trade in.

Data taken from Auto Trader's online scrappage tool suggests – perhaps unsurprisingly – that some of the UK's former best-selling cars are the most common considerations for scrappage schemes. Topping the list is the Volkswagen Golf, which accounts for 17 per cent of the top 10.
