Five must-see TV highlights for the week ahead

Kit Harington is back with a bang this Saturday starring in an exciting new period drama, while on Thursday we welcome the return of Sue Perkins to our screens as she takes us on a trip along the Ganges River.

1. The Story of Wham! told by George Michael - Monday at 9pm on Channel 4

An in-depth look into the life and career of the legendary singer-songwriter. Narrated by the man himself, it features never-before-seen personal footage and interviews with a range of cultural giants including Ricky Gervais, Liam Gallagher and Tracey Emin.

2. Paul O'Grady: For The Love Of Dogs - Thursday at 8:30pm on ITV

Paul O'Grady's back at Battersea Dog's Home in London meeting the lovable residents of the UK's most famous animal shelter. Hear their back stories and try your hardest not to pick up the phone and adopt all of them!

3. The Ganges with Sue Perkins - Thursday at 9pm on BBC One

Bake Off may be getting along OK without her, but it's great to see Sue back on our screens. This travel series will see her venture down one of the world's greatest rivers, getting to know the people who work, worship and wash in the Ganges with her usual blend of wit and charm. No sign of Mel as yet, though!

4. Gunpowder - Saturday at 9pm on BBC One

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington arrives on BBC One alongside Hollywood star Liv Tyler for this flashy drama telling the story of the Gunpowder Plots. Expect explosive action and gruesome gore (the first scene sees a boy hung, drawn and quartered!)

5. Transformers: The Last Knight (12A) on TalkTalk TV Store
