London has long been known as one of the most haunted cities in the world, as a long list of royal ghosts fill the halls of Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. Many have witnessed creepy sights, smells and screams in the tower.

Venice, too, is also home to what many believe to be the most haunted place in the world, Poveglia Island, which was a place of exile for those affected by the bubonic plague. It later housed an asylum where a doctor was rumoured to experiment on patients.
