Hitler’s underwear sells for more than £4k

There is no shortage of strange things that have gone up for auction over the years.

But few auction items are stranger than the pair of Adolf Hitler's underwear that recently sold for $5,500 according to International Business Times.

The underwear was sold at Alexander Historical Auctions in Chesapeake City, Maryland to a private buyer.

It's believed that the underwear, emblazoned with the initials A.H. were left at the luxury Parkhotel Graz in Austria in 1938.

The seller was the grandson of the hotels owners at the time, according to The Sun.

The item description stated that the underwear were surprisingly large, with a 39 inch waist and were 19 inches long.

Auctioneer, Bill Panagopulos, says: "People tend to either buy fearsome Hitler memorabilia, or things that make him look like a buffoon. such as this."

"To minimise a monster, you make people laugh at him."
