Huge 32ft ‘sea creature’ washes up on Philippines beach

A large 32ft sea creature the size of a fighter jet has washed up on a beach in the Philippines.

The decomposing animal was found on the island of Leyte, near Maasin City.

The Metro reports that Nujnuj Capistrano, 42, who lives in Maasin City, photographed the animal while visiting the beach.

He said: "I was just passing by the beach and took some photos but I don't know about the details.

"I was surprised because it's too big and it's the first time I saw that kind of creature."

According to news.com.au, he added: "The creature was already dead when I saw it. The smell was too bad. I can't describe it, but it was a bad smell."

Julius Alpino, from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, said the corpse could not be identified because it was already decomposing, but that it was likely it was a whale.

The carcass was towed out to sea after the city officials decided it could not be buried due to its size and smell.
