Driverless bus caught rolling into live traffic
This is the scary moment when a bus driver left his vehicle unattended and the double-decker rolled into the line of traffic.
Captured on a taxi's dashcam at 3:30am on Sunday morning, the video shows the 12.5 tonne bus slowly rolling out into the road without anyone behind the wheel.
The taxi driver, who had a passenger with him at the time, had to brake sharply to avoid the vehicle. The taxi passenger is heard asking if the bus driver was asleep, before he is seen running to stop the Routemaster. You can also see a passenger standing up in the bus.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident on Marylebone Road, and the bus driver reversed the vehicle so traffic could continue.
A Transport for London spokesperson told the Metro: "We have asked the bus operator, Go Ahead, to urgently investigate this footage and to report back to us."
