Amazon awarded parachute shipping patent for drone delivery

Amazon has long been dreaming of drone delivery and is ever-preparing for the day the FAA gives the green light.

One proposed method, which was recently awarded a patent, involves labels that release parachutes.

Should they ever become part of Amazon's delivery network, the parachute labels would be used for parcels that are dropped from aerial crafts, including unmanned ones.

According to the patent filed, the packages will then gently drift down and land, ensuring no harm is done to the goods inside.

The company has been toying around with many air to front door delivery services - ultimately the goal is to get people their stuff in 30 minutes or less.
