Kayaker has close encounter with great white shark

A video has emerged from California, USA of a great white shark swimming right next to a kayaker.

In the footage, which was captured off New Brighton Beach, the shark's fin and grey outline are visible as the animal circles the kayak.

The filmer keeps his cool and seems more excited than scared by the curious shark.

''Amazingly he stayed with me for several minutes,'' the filmer said.
