Neil Armstrong's lunar bag is worth a fortune

If you thought buying a high-end designer bag was expensive, it doesn't even come close to astronaut Neil Armstrong's lunar bag.

His legendary bag that brought back moon dust is going up for auction at Sotheby's for an expected $2 to $4 million.

That means on the high end, Armstrong's one bag could fetch up to 40 times what one of the world's most expensive purses would cost.

The bag was dubbed a national treasure after the Apollo 11 moon landing and was displayed in museums.

But then the government lost track of it and a woman from Illinois snagged it at an auction for less than a grand a few years ago.

And after a messy legal battle with NASA over rightful ownership, the bag is once again going up for sale. But by the purchaser from Illinois!

She won the battle for ownership and plans to give some of money made from the auction to charities like the Immune Deficiency Foundation among others.

NASA is understandably not happy with the outcome and believes the bag belongs in a museum.
