Corbyn to watch Arsenal bid for FA Cup glory

Jeremy Corbyn will be at the FA Cup Final on Saturday to watch his beloved Arsenal take on Chelsea.

The Labour leader will take a break from campaigning to watch his local team take on their London rivals in the historic showpiece at Wembley Stadium, a party source said.

Arsenal will be under pressure to win the trophy at the end of a season in which they have failed to qualify for the European Champions League by finishing fourth or higher in the Premier League for the first time in years.

Mr Corbyn has previously faced questions on whether there are parallels between his leadership and Arsene Wenger's management of Arsenal, which in recent years has split supporters over his failure to deliver another league title.

One of the Opposition leader's election rallies in Leamington Spa was even attended by teenage Arsenal fans who held up a "Wenger Out" sign as he addressed supporters.

The source said Mr Corbyn is paying for his own ticket and will be attending with his son, Seb, who is also an Arsenal fan. They will not be in a box.
