The property is up for sale for $6.9 million. For your money, you get four bedrooms, a guest house, and a swimming pool.

The house has been built in the Spanish style, with white walls, tiled floors and arched entry ways. It also boasts a new kitchen. It's in Brentwood, where your celebrity neighbours would include Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.

Monroe collectors

However, there will be plenty of people who are simply interested in owning a slice of Marilyn Monroe's life. For them, the fact that she lived and died in the house will be a major part of the reason for visiting the property - and perhaps even buying it.

It might be a lot of money for a piece of the screen icon's life, but it's not the first time that fans have been willing to dig deep in order to have a connection with Monroe.

Back in November the iconic dress she wore when she performed for John F Kennedy sold for £3.87 million.

Prior to that, the most expensive piece of Monroe memorabilia was the iconic billowing white dress she worse in The Seven Year Itch, which sold at auction in 2011 for £2.59 million.

When you consider how much people are wiling to pay for a couple of dresses, then suddenly $6.9 million (£5.38 million) for a property doesn't seem too steep.

But what do you think? Would you be keen to buy it? Or is buying a home because of the famous person who died there taking fandom just a bit too far? Let us know in the comments.
