Could endless runways be the future of airports?

Circular runways could be the future of airports around the world.

This video shows how the Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) has created the 'endless runway'.

This means it's possible to fly in from any direction as there are no limitations on where to take off or land.

The circle has a 3.5km diameter and a landing only requires a small part of the runway.

It is the equivalent of four runways and several planes can land at any one time.

NLR says it improves safety and reduces the environmental impact.
