What's your budget for your next property? The odds are that it's around the £300,000 mark, as the latest Zoopla price data has revealed that the average property in the UK is currently worth £299,764.

But whether or not that will buy you what you want depends a lot on where you are. In Scotland, for example, it'll get you a grand four-bedroom house with two turrets, whereas in London you're more likely to be looking at a one-bedroom flat in Zone 3.

London property bargains for 2017

"Everyone knows that property prices vary hugely from one part of the UK to another, but it's interesting to see just how stark the differences are from a visual perspective," comments Lawrence Hall, spokesperson for Zoopla.

"We have looked at each British region to hand-pick property listings to show just what the current UK average property value can buy."

Here are Zoopla's picks of averagely-priced properties from around the UK.
