The Deputy Mayor of Paris says the wall will have three goals, to improve the look, make the access easier and increase protection.

Six million people visit the tower each year.

The wall is designed to stop people or vehicles from storming the landmark.

Terrorists have killed 230 people in France in the past few years. The most recent was 3 February when a man with a machete attacked the Louvre, although no one was killed.

The wall is expected to be completed in the autumn.
