Google named world's most valuable brand


Google has become the world's most valuable brand.

The technology giant has overtaken Apple in the Brand Finance Global 500 ranking.

The report says Google remained 'largely unchallenged' in its search business.

But Apple, on the other hand, has struggled to maintain its technological advantage.

In this area the term brand is defined as: 'Trademark and associated IP including the word mark and trademark iconography'.

So, who else makes the top ten? Take a look at the list below to find out.

3. Amazon.com

4. AT&T

5. Microsoft

6. Samsung Group

7. Verizon

8. Walmart

9. Facebook

10. ICBC

Samsung and ICBC were the only non-American brands to make it into the top 10, coming from Korea and China respectively.

Other divisions within the list include soft drinks, food and toys with Coca Cola, Nestlé and Lego topping those lists.

The factors considered to create the table include brand strength, royalty rate and brand specific revenues.
