Donald Trump's DC hotel gets the thumbs down

President Donald Trump made a lot of money building things, and from his multiple business ventures.

But one thing he doesn't associate with his name: failure.

And yet, the president's newly opened Trump International Hotel in Washington DC is far from being a smashing success.

According to an annual ranking by the U.S. News and World Report, the five-star-hotel isn't ranked first, or second.

It actually comes in 37th place as the best of what the DC area has to offer.

Starting at $472 a night, the report notes: "some recent travelers complained of noise."

The hotel has been subject to multiple protests. And while Trump has called it "one of the great hotels of the world," prestigious group Luxury Travel Intelligence ranks it the third worst in the world.

"LTI finds the décor a little garish and more quantity over quality."

The newly renovated space has been the source of great controversy since it occupies the taxpayer-owned Old Post Office, which could pose a conflict of interest.

Trump has since turned over management of the property to his two oldest sons.

The last time a major publication criticized one of Trump's properties, his response wasn't pretty.
