Black and white rhinos go head to head in rare face-off

Updated

While on an evening game drive looking for a pride of lions, senior field guide Wayne Howarth came across a black rhino and a white rhino sizing each other up.

It's believed they were probably having a bit of a dispute over territory.

It's unusual to see the two species together as they have different diets, even though they are both found in sub-Saharan Africa.

Wayne and his group parked 20m away, keeping a safe distance as they watched the two beasts fight it out.

Although he wasn't able to capture the end of the fight, he said the white rhino ended up winning the battle.

The two animals then went their separate ways with no more than few small wounds.
