What you need to look out for:

When comparing loans, there are several things you will need to look out for before you sign along the dotted line.

- Is there a fee if you choose to pay your loan off early – usually, this can be around two or three months interest

- Is there an arrangement fee for taking out the loan?

- You could receive a higher interest rate than the one that was advertised. This happens because the APR representative is only offered to 51% of applicants.

Another thing to be aware of is that if your credit score is poor, lenders are increasingly likely to turn you down.

Therefore, it's a good idea to use the MoneySuperMarket Smart Search tool which will give you a good indication of how likely you are to be accepted for certain loans before you actually apply for them, which means you don't leave a mark on your credit report.

All loans are subject to status and terms and conditions. Over 18s, UK residents only. Terms and conditions apply. See MoneySuperMarket.com for further information.
