Body found outside house identified as missing Melanie Wilson

A body discovered outside a house has been identified as that of a woman who had been missing since last month.

Melanie Wilson was reported missing from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire on October 21, having last been seen two days previously when she sent her father a text telling him she loved him.

Nottinghamshire Police launched a missing persons inquiry and on Thursday the remains of a woman were discovered in Stoney Street in nearby Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The force confirmed the body was that of 22-year-old Miss Wilson.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Saturday was unable to pinpoint a cause of death and further tests are being carried out.

A force spokesman said: "The circumstances are not thought to suspicious.

"Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the death."

Miss Wilson's family have been informed.
