Millennials spending less time in jobs than Baby Boomers

Most millennials think workplace loyalty will help them get ahead. But that phrase has a different meaning for them than it did for previous generations.

As many as 60% of millennials surveyed by Monster.com think six years or less is the right amount of time to spend at a single job.

But half of those aged 55 to 64 said the right time to spend at one job is more than a decade.

The survey also found that Gen Xers might be paving the way for millennials to hop from job to job.

Some people over 55 said they had only ever worked for one or two employers, while younger generations had worked for far more.

But, there might be a way to keep millennials interested. Research by Deloitte found millennials need a social purpose to stay at a job.

They can also be hooked by employers that offer "flexible working conditions and work/life integration."
