Luckily a YouTube channel has found out why and put us all out of our misery.

'Today I Found Out' revealed that the aircraft manufacturer builds the planes with the windows installed in specific places.

Then the airline comes in and decides themselves where they are going to put the seats.

Airlines make decisions about how many seats and how much legroom they want to give.

So, while you may have thought it was some big secret with a very technical reason behind it, it's really just as simple as that!
