Legendary Beatles producer leaves nothing to eldest son in £1m will

When the man known as the 'fifth Beatle' died earlier this year he left a considerable estate behind.

However, it has just been revealed that George Martin, who was the Fab Four's producer, left nothing in his will to his eldest son.

Martin, who had four children, produced some of the Beatles' most famous albums including Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hears Club Band as well as working on iconic singles including Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever.

The music legend passed away in March of this year and his death was announced by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr on Twitter with a photo of the band and Martin along with the caption: "Thank you for all your love and kindness George peace and love xx."

The details of Martin's estate have recently been revealed and one notable omission is his eldest son, Greg.

The producer is understood to have left behind a fortune of around £1 million, with the most part being handed over to Judy, his second wife, the Daily Mail reports.

A small amount has been split between seven others, including his daughter Alexis, three of his grandchildren, his niece, secretary and chauffeur.

Martin was first married to Sheena Chisholm, with whom he had Alexis and Gregory before leaving her for his secretary, Judy.

The couple married in 1966 and they had two children, Lucie and Giles, who have also been left money in the will.

While Greg Martin may not be receiving anything himself, his son Connor has been gifted the same amount as his cousins, Alexis' children, Saul and Natasha.

It was reported by the Mail that it states in his will: "I give free of tax to my trustees such sum as at my death equals the maximum amount which could be given by this will without inheritance tax becoming payable in respect of my estate."

According to the government website, you are not required to pay inheritance tax if 'the value of your estate is below the £325,000 threshold'.

Writing on his website after Martin's death, Paul McCartney said: "I'm so sad to hear the news of the passing of dear George Martin.

"I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever. He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me."

He added: "The world has lost a truly great man who left an indelible mark on my soul and the history of British music."
