Sweet success for X Factor hopeful Honey G

Some viewers thought she was a joke act, but aspiring rapper Honey G has made it through to the live X Factor shows.

Honey G, real name Anna Georgette Gilford, was sent through by judge Sharon Osbourne after she decided to take a "risk" on the 35-year-old.

The hip-hop singer impressed Osbourne and even guest judge Robbie Williams with her rendition of Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise.

"I was born to perform," the rap fan, who has told judges she is "sweet like Honey G", said.

"Honey G could be the next big recording artist."

Angels singer Williams said: "She makes me happy, I think I will remember Honey G for the rest of my life."

Osbourne sat Honey G down and gave the rapper - who sports white jeans, baseball cap, oversized sunglasses and shiny bomber jacket - the good news.

"It would be a big risk for me to put you through but I have taken risks all my life," the judge said.

An emotional Honey G responded: "I just can't believe it, I just can't believe it."

And she added: "I'm going to put North Weezy (north west London) right on the map, baby".

Honey G, who is a contestant in the over-25s category, has sparked speculation that she is not genuine because of her amusing dance moves, outfits and attempts at street slang.

During her earliest audition, judge Simon Cowell told her: "You shouldn't be doing that!" adding: "Please, please just end this."

But her first audition for the ITV show, where she rapped Missy Elliott's song Work It, went viral.

On Sunday's show, Saara Aalto, 29, from Finland, also got through, after singing Abba's The Winner Takes It All.

She managed to make the live shows despite pop star Williams admitting he "got a bit bored" during her performance.

Relley C, 26, who was turned down by Nicole Scherzinger in the judges' houses segment of a previous series, also made it through, impressing with a rendition of Kelly Clarkson's Up To The Mountain.

Osbourne told her: "Nicole sent you home. I've made my decision. I'm not Nicole and I'm not sending you home. You are going to stay."

The judge's decision left Christopher Peyton, James Wilson, Samantha Atkinson and Janet Grogan all disappointed to be returning home.

In the boys category, Matt Terry, Freddy Parker and Ryan Lawrie all get good news.

Nicole Scherzinger told Louis Tomlinson lookalike Terry, 23, who has sung about his heartbreak: "You're so beautiful. I mean look at your eyes and you have an amazing voice."

Parker, who sang Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do, said after discovering that he was going through to the live shows: "It's everything I've wanted. I'm never going to sleep for the rest of my life."

And Scherzinger told Lawrie that she is "crazy enough to take (a) risk and take him through."

Niall Sexton, Nate Simpson, James Hughes, and Christian Burrows did not make it through to the live shows.

Hughes faltered when he suddenly stopped singing during his audition, performing Marvin Gaye's Ain't No Mountain High Enough, at the judges' houses.

But Scherzinger gave the 17-year-old Scottish singer hope that he could still make it another year, telling him: "I don't think it's time for you yet. But that doesn't mean you're not going to get there."
