A doctor on board an Air China flight from Kashgar to Urumqi in China's Xinjiang region, saved a fellow passenger from a seizure - using just a spoon and a toothpick.

Tian Yu, a medic who works for Longhua Hospital in Shanghai, was called upon when the male passenger suddenly started having a seizure, which caused him to lose consciousness and foam at the mouth.

He recognised that the man was having an epileptic seizure, and quickly asked for a spoon and a towel, using them to press down on the man's tongue to stop him from choking on his own vomit.

He then used tradition Chinese medicine methods to help "activate the brain" so the man could regain consciousness.

With limited medical supplies on board, flight attendants gave Tian toothpicks to use to stimulate a pressure point at the crown of the skull, helping them man to recover function after the seizure.

The man did regain function and was well enough to sit up on his own and ask for water, reports Fox News.

According to socialfeed.info, Tian told the passenger: "It would be better to bring some epilepsy medicine when taking an airplane, the changes in air pressure and lack of oxygen on board are conditions that can easily induce seizures."
