Surgery helps cat with no eyelids

These two stray kittens were found wandering along a road in Australia when they were five weeks old.

Both suffer from a debilitating eye condition that meant they had no eyelids.

Luckily for them, they were rescued by an animal lover who took them straight to the RSPCA Blue Mountain Shelter.

Here they were referred for specialist treatment to correct their problem, which, if left untreated, would have made them blind within a year.

Both kittens underwent eight-hour eye operations - and are now ready for adoption.
