Librarian leaves employer $4 million
Robert Morin attended the University of New Hampshire and then spent the next 50 years working in the university's library.
When he died recently at the age of 77, Morin surprised everyone by donating his life savings to the educational facility.
It was no small sum either. Morin is understood to have had no family and lived a simple life. He saved and invested everything he earned, which meant when he passed away a whopping $4 million was left to the university.
According to Mashable, Morin requested that $100,000 worth of the donation was used for scholarships and library renovations.
The University of New Hampshire recognised the incredibly generous donation on its Facebook page.
The President, Mark Huddleston, wrote: "His generous gift allows us to address a number of university priorities.
"As an alumnus Bob would be pleased to know that a majority of his estate, $2.5 million, will help launch an expanded and centrally located career center for our students and UNH alumni."
He added: "We are committed to providing the resources needed to ensure every student achieves professional success and Bob's gift will play a major role in that effort."
