Banks and supermarkets 'among best for offering staff decent work-life balance'

Recruitment firms, banks and supermarkets have been named as among the best companies for offering staff a decent work-life balance.

A study by jobs site Glassdoor named recruiters Goodman Masson as top of the list, followed by technology firm Cisco Systems and home insurers HomeServe.

Others in the top 20 included Apple, Lloyds Banking Group, Waitrose, John Lewis and Screwfix.

Diarmuid Russell of Glassdoor said: "Maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be tough in today's environment, with ever-increasing demands on our time.

"As millions of employees head back to work after the Bank Holiday, our report shows there are companies that offer a good balance between their home and work life."

Greg Reed, chief marketing officer at HomeServe, said; "We believe if you take care of your people, they will take care of your customers and the rest will take care of itself. This means creating a culture where people genuinely enjoy coming to work every day because they feel engaged and feel what they do really makes a difference in our customers' lives.

"Work is such a big part of our lives so how we feel when we are at work and what we feel about work when we are at home really matters."
