78,000 fall in young people not in education, work or training

The number of young people not in education, employment or training has fallen by 78,000 over the past year, new figures show.

The so-called Neet total for the UK was 843,000 in the three months to June, down by 22,000 from January to March.

The percentage of young people classed as Neet was 11.7%, down by 0.3% from earlier this year and by 0.9% from a year ago, said the Office for National Statistics.

Just under half were unemployed.
