Berdych adds Ivanisevic to coaching team

Updated:

Tomas Berdych is relishing the prospect of linking up with Goran Ivanisevic after adding the 2001 Wimbledon champion to his coaching team.

Ivanisevic helped fellow Croatian Marin Cilic to a first major title in the shape of the 2014 US Open, before the pair split last month.

Now Berdych, whose best performance at a grand slam came as Wimbledon runner-up to Rafael Nadal in 2010, has announced he will be working with Ivanisevic, who won in famous fashion as a wild card at the All England Club after three unsuccessful final appearances in 1992, 1994 and 1998.

"Dear fans, I am delighted to announce a new addition to my team," Berdych posted on his Twitter account.

"Two months ago I started working with Luke Kutanjac and I feel that, since then, my game has been raising and my form has been going in the right direction.

"In order to further improve I have decided to add Goran Ivanisevic to the team already in Cincinnati.

"I feel that Goran, with his playing and coaching experience as well as with his energy, is a perfect addition to the team. Feeling excited about new challenges."
