Supporters mob Jeremy Corbyn at Brighton rally

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was mobbed by hundreds of his supporters at a rally in Brighton.

Scores of his fans, many wearing "Jeremy for Labour" or "I love Jeremy" t-shirts, queued for hours to get a seat at the sell-out event in the Hilton Metropole on Tuesday evening.

Mr Corbyn addressed a crowd of about 500 outside the venue before speaking to 1,000 inside the event.

He was greeted by a standing ovation and stopped to shake hands with dozens of people as he made his way up onto the stage.

There was rapturous applause as Mr Corbyn condemned Southern rail, praised the NHS and called for more social housing to be built to help end poverty.

After his speech, he was mobbed by dozens of fans desperate to shake his hand and spent at least 15 minutes talking to people from the crowd.

He patiently posed for selfies with adoring supporters, a number of whom even presented him with gifts.
