Apples
are packed with fibre and can help to stabilise your blood-sugar levels. Apples also contain pectin, which naturally slows digestion and promotes a feeling of fullness. Add apple chunks to porridge, salads or wraps.

Dark chocolate helps shut down hunger hormones. Plus, its bitterness helps to cut your cravings for salty, sweet and fatty foods. Choose dark chocolate that is 70% cocoa, and if you're trying to lose weight be sure to only eat a few squares!

Eggs are packed with protein, which helps to keep your body satisfied for longer. Studies show that eating protein for breakfast can help you to lose weight. Researchers gave two groups the same number of calories to eat for breakfast. The group that ate eggs lost 65% more weight and 16% more body fat over the eight-week study period than those who ate bagels.

Water is a great way to fill up. Studies suggest that drinking a pint of H20 before each meal could help you lose 9.48lbs over the course of a month. The body often confuses thirst for hunger - so stay well hydrated and you're less likely to be tempted by the biscuit barrel!

Oatmeal is slow digesting, leaving you feeling full long after breakfast is over. Choose "rough cut" oats instead of "instant" versions, which take longer to digest. Why stop at breakfast? Eating a handful of toasted oats with zero fat natural Greek yoghurt and a few strawberries makes a guilt-free snack when you need something sweet.
