McDonald's table service to bring in 5,000 UK jobs

McDonald's will be doing their bit for the economy this year by creating 5,000 jobs as they introduce table service to UK restaurants.

The popular fast-food retailer revealed on their website that they will be adding to their UK workforce this year, taking it over 110,000.

McDonald's announced at the start of the year they would be making a change to their UK restaurants by adding table service.

The brand trialled the new service at 12 restaurant locations around the UK last summer before deciding to introduce it at 400 restaurants in 2016.

But for those who would rather carry on with the traditional experience at the tills, don't panic, you'll still be able to queue up and order your food there.

According to the Guardian the chain will also be doubling the number of restaurants which sell their premium burgers.

Called the 'Signature Collection', the brand claims on their website that the range is 'designed to offer something entirely new to customers in the UK'.

The burgers are available in three flavours, The Classic, The BBQ and The Spicy and boast thicker beef patties and are all served in brioche-style buns.

McDonald's UK CEO, Paul Pomroy, said: "As a major UK employer, we have added more than 15,000 people to our workforce during the last five years as a result of our sustained business growth and long-term investment in recruitment and training.

"Growth has been driven by investment and innovation in the restaurant experience, new restaurants and extended opening hours – over half of our stores are now open 24/7 throughout the week.

"Innovations like table service where customers place their order via our new digital kiosks and have their food brought to them, are proving incredibly popular and in place in over 350 restaurants across the UK."
