Save money and buy wine during the week

When it gets to the weekend it's time to kick back and relax with no work tomorrow and two lie-ins to look forward to!

One thing plenty of people around the UK enjoy is settling down at home or in the pub with a nice glass of wine.

While this might be a great way to end your week, it's not quite as good for your wallet.

No, we don't mean the quantity you're putting away, more the price of the plonk you're drinking.

New research from mobile shopping app, Ibotta, has shown that wine is more expensive on the weekends, Metro reports.

This means that if you're hoping to indulge in a chilled Chardonnay on a Saturday or Sunday you should plan ahead and buy it during the week because it might save you a little.

But, another word of advice, don't go flying down to the supermarket this evening on your way home to stock up for the weekend because Monday isn't the best day to buy wine.

According to the research, it is 6% cheaper to buy wine on a Tuesday while you'll have to make another trip to the shop if you're more of a beer fan because beer is 9% cheaper on Mondays!

Ibotta, which helps users earn cashback on everything from clothes to electronics and food to cosmetics, analysed 50 millions receipts to come up with these results which wine fans should definitely be paying attention to!
