Jessie J rules out return to The Voice UK

Jessie J has ruled out a return as a coach on The Voice UK "any time soon" following the talent show's move from the BBC to ITV.

The Price Tag singer, who was part of original coaching panel in 2012 and 2013, said she was having to work "extra hard" on her music career after spending time away from the UK with the Australian version of the programme.

She told the Press Association: "I want to get back to music and The Voice takes up a lot of time.

"I've loved doing it. I've done four series now - two in the UK, two in Australia.

"I'll always be a supporter of the show and I'd love to go on and sing but I have to get back to music and get back to touring because that's really who I am and what I do."

Asked whether a return to The Voice on ITV was likely, she added: "No, not any time soon."

Jessie J, whose last UK number one was in 2014 with Bang, Bang, said it was "hard" for professional singers after the previous winners of The Voice struggled to achieve chart success.

"I think it's hard for all of us," she said. "It's not overnight success. I think it's really just who it is and how hard they work.

"I think when you're in people's living rooms every Saturday night, it's like they're a star.

"I mean I've haven't been around in the UK for a little while and you've got to work extra hard when you come back. I think it's the same for everyone.

"Songs have to be really great when you release them. Not expect, never presume, always work hard."

Speaking at a screening of Ice Age: Collision Course, in Los Angeles, Jessie J - who voices a character in the film - said she was "not shocked" that The Voice was moving from the BBC to ITV.

"Change is great," she said. "The BBC had an amazing run with The Voice. I'm sure ITV are going to have some changes and it will be only positive."

Sir Tom Jones is reportedly in talks to reprise his coaching job on The Voice when it returns to screens on ITV next year.

The veteran singer left the BBC's version of the talent show last year, claiming at the time he was dropped by producers with little notice.

US musician will.i.am, who appeared on the The Voice throughout its stint on BBC One, will be among the star coaches in the upcoming series, while host Emma Willis is also returning.
