Las Vegas has certainly seen its share of unique weddings, but recently one ceremony took even a well-seasoned professional by surprise.

A man from Los Angeles showed up at The Little Vegas Chapel inquiring about marrying to his cell phone.

Owner Michael Kelly said, "At first it was like what? And then I was like... Alright let's do it. We don't really have many people that marry inanimate objects."

Kelly also noted he makes a point of welcoming commitment ceremonies of all kinds.

The state of Nevada is less flexible, and does not, in fact, acknowledge the vows the man and his cell phone made. While the marriage may not be real, the love likely is.

The man commented that he wanted to send a message, saying: "We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our mind and to me that's also what a relationship is about."

"So, in a sense, my smartphone has been my longest relationship, that's why I decided to see what it was like to actually marry a phone."

In a recent study conducted for Kaspersky Lab, about a third of participants said their phones were as or more important to them than their friends and parents.
