Arrest made over attack in which man was stabbed more than 20 times

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack on a man in Greater Manchester who was stabbed over 20 times.

The 23-year-old victim was set upon by three people wearing balaclavas, who jumped out of a car and attacked him at the junction of Citrus Way and Mango Place in Pendleton, Salford.

They stabbed him more than 20 times before getting back into the car where a fourth person drove them away.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that they have arrested a 21-year-old man in Worsley on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned by police.

The attack happened at around 11.15pm on Thursday.

The victim was taken to hospital for surgery and is in a stable condition.

GMP said that their investigations were still ongoing.
