Man in court charged with murder of minicab driver

A 25 year-old man is due in court today charged with the murder of a part-time minicab driver.

Abdi Gutale, 24, died when a gunman opened fire as he drove his Vauxhall Zafira down a residential street in the early hours of May 14.

Scotland Yard said Kingsley Harvey, 25, of Leytonstone, east London, would appear in custody charged with murder at Thames Magistrates Court.

Mr Gutale, of Leytonstone, had finished his minicab shift and had his friends in the car when the shots were fired shortly after 3am near the junction of Melbourne Road and Capworth Street in Leyton, east London.

Four other men who were arrested on suspicion of murder are on bail pending further inquiries.

A 19-year-old man and a 31-year-old man have been bailed to return on a date in early July. A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old man have been bailed to a date in late July.
