Frasier star Kelsey Grammer: Being bitten by my parrot hurt more than my intimately placed tattoo

Updated:

Frasier's Kelsey Grammer hit the sofa for The Graham Norton Show to talk about his new film Breaking The Bank, which also stars Tamsin Greig.

Host Graham took the opportunity to ask Kelsey about the tattoo of his fourth wife's name inked near an intimate part of his body.

"It didn't hurt as much as my parrot biting me," said Kelsey. "That was much worse."

Best known for playing Dr Frasier Crane in sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, Kelsey is now on his fourth marriage. He wed Kayte Walsh in 2011 after his third marriage to Camille Grammer broke down in 2011 after 14 years.

Kelsey, 61, wed first wife Doreen Alderman in 1982, but they parted eight years later. His second marriage to Leigh-Anne Csuhany ended after a year in 1993.

Chatting about his love of singing, Kelsey delighted Graham and the audience with a rendition of the Frasier theme song Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs.

Green Wing star Tamsin is best known now for BBC Two comedy Episodes in which she stars alongside Matt LeBlanc and Stephen Mangan.

Talking about working in the US, she said: "I do get noticed, but they can't understand what I say and they can't pronounce my name. I've had lots of variations including Tasmin Grief!"

The 49-year-old also revealed that people occasionally get her gender confused.

"I am most often mistaken for a man. It happens quite a lot," she told Graham. "We will go out for a meal and the waiter will say, 'And for you, sir?'"

She continued: "I was walking down the street once and there was a toddler who'd just learnt to name things. He was pointing and saying, 'car' and 'tree' and 'birds' and then he pointed at me and said, 'man!'"

Graham's other guests include Oscar-nominated Salma Hayek, comedian Rhod Gilbert and singer-songwriter Alicia Keys.

The Graham Norton Show is broadcast on June 3 on BBC One at 10.35pm.
