A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in a leafy Home Counties town.

The body of the 38-year-old woman was found at a house in the upmarket St George's Hill area of Weybridge on Saturday morning, Surrey Police said.

A man was found with "serious injuries" at the same address in Crossfield Place, close to Weybridge Station, and was taken to hospital for treatment, officers said.

The victim has not been formally identified but police believe they know her identity and her family have been informed.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Taylor said: "This is a tragic incident and we will do all we can to support the woman's family."

Police went to the house after being alerted by an ambulance crew shortly after 10am.

The house is situated on a private residential street, which was taped off this afternoon with police cars outside. Three other cars were also visible on the driveway beyond the police tape.

A spokesman for the residents' association at the 964-acre private gated community of St George's Hill said that the incident did not happen there.
