Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne embraced as they appeared in public together for the first time since news of their split was reported.

The couple reunited at the Palladium in Los Angeles for a press conference where they announced the merging of heavy metal music festivals, Ozzfest and Slipknot's Knotfest.

After taking to the stage, Sharon, 63, said she wanted to "introduce some friends of mine" before calling out her estranged husband's name.

The Black Sabbath frontman, 67, then appeared and gave Sharon a brief hug. Photographs of the pair later showed him kissing Sharon on the cheek.

The event came just two days after Sharon admitted she had "no idea" if she has a future with the singer.

She told US television chat show The Talk that she "can't keep living like this" as she addressed reports the couple's 33-year marriage could be coming to an end.

Sharon, who is a panellist on the programme, appeared on Tuesday holding a glass of lemonade, a perceived reference to Beyonce's new album which contains lyrics about infidelity.

Ozzy has fought a public battle with drug and alcohol addiction throughout their marriage but has insisted that any reports suggesting he was using drugs again were "completely inaccurate".

The pair met in the 1970s via her father Don Arden, who was managing the heavy metal group at the time. The pair wed in 1982 and have three children together: Jack, Kelly and Aimee.

The Osbourne family found a new level of fame when they appeared on the MTV reality show The Osbournes from 2002 to 2005.
