Emma Watson named in Panama Papers

Harry Potter actress and political advocate, Emma Watson's name has popped up in the latest Panama Papers leak.

Her name comes out after the group who leaked the infamous papers made them public on a searchable database.

It's called the Offshore Leaks Database and it contains information on more than 300,000 companies and trusts from the Panama Papers and Offshore Leaks investigations.

Watson's name appears as 'Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson' and she is listed as a beneficiary for an offshore company in the British Virgin Islands.

Watson's spokesperson has made a statement saying the actress set it up to protect her anonymity and safety and that she isn't receiving any tax or monetary advantages.

The Panama Papers have been described as the world's biggest data leak. The data shows how some of the world's rich and famous have been taking advantage of offshore tax initiatives.
