He tries to warn the traffic to stay away from it, but it's so busy nobody takes any notice.

So he resorts to putting cones around the crack and it's a good job he did because two minutes later, the ground gives way and a huge sinkhole appears.

The incident occurred in Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, eastern China, reports the Mirror.

The Daily Mail explains why the sinkhole may have occurred: "Sinkholes usually occur in areas where soluble bedrock is exposed to water, which has the ability to dissolve it.

"Water erosion on a sinkhole of this kind would have started underneath the surface of the road with cracks and holes appearing.

"These cracks and holes would continue to expand until the road above was no longer able to support its own weight."

Back in March, an entire bus was swallowed by a sinkhole in China.

The bus was carrying the driver and two passengers when then incident occurred as the bus was pulling into a station in Guiyang.

The two passengers were not injured, but the driver was taken to hospital and treated for a head injury.
