Cruisers are in for a treat this year as new research has revealed that cruise holidays are cheaper in 2016 than they were last year.

Holidays to many popular destinations, such as Europe and the Far East, cost up to a third less, according to cruise holiday agent Planet Cruise .

As well as significant savings of up to 29%, the cruise travel agency uncovered some of the best places to take an affordable cruise this year, with an 11-night trip in the Eastern Mediterranean including flights costing 42% less this year, for example.

For those looking to travel further afield, you can make massive savings on cruise holidays to the USA. One tailor-made cruise holiday in July for 13 nights, visiting US cities such as New York and Las Vegas costs 16% less this year compared to last.

Surprisingly, the research also revealed that tailor-made cruise holidays are cheaper this year with one particular cruise to Asia, taking in sights such as the Great Wall of China and the Terracotta Warriors costing 20% less than the same holiday in 2015.
